Innards

INNARDS
Can you imagine the space behind your eye? Can you imagine the space inside your thumb? I’ve been thinking about my insides. I know these spaces are mine. I know the spaces have color and are a bit wobbly because I’m actually mostly water. My internal soup allows me a lot of agency. I know they are aging and their colors are probably changing and they might become even more wobbly from cancer or rigid from Covid 19. These are the pieces that make me up. I am not always enamored with their shapes and textures. I feel guilty for infrequently being aware of my one body. I unhelpfully shift towards hyperawareness. I’m trying to understand the outline and baseline.
Original watercolor. Abstract hand painted anatomy, innards, or guts. The specimens vary in comfort, confidence and color.
